Coal

Since the mid eighties, Met-Chem has been involved in the coal sector providing technical services in mining, engineering and EPCM contracts. In India, Met-Chem has been providing technical services in mine and maintenance improvement projects and training to Coal India and its various subsidiaries. Met-Chem also performed an EPCM contract for the expansion of the Rajmahal Coal Project from 1.0 to 10.5 Mtpy, as well as numerous feasibility studies involving the development of new projects or the expansion of existing ones.

Met-Chem also prepared many feasibility studies for potential coal mines in India such as the Wardhra Valley Coal deposit covering three separate deposits, and the Talcher Coal Project. In a joint venture, Met-Chem prepared a fire fighting program for the Jharia coalfields which has had a number of fires throughout its orebody. In Kazakhstan, Met-Chem did a pre-feasibility study for the development of a new coal mine.
